Recap

Public Affairs Budget for 2024

We made minimal changes for 2024. We discussed perhaps having a Beaverdale Business Open House instead of Tour of Homes. Additional discussions are needed to make that happen.

What we sent to Jay Kozel (BNA Treasurer)

National Night Out  2,500

Neighborhood Watch  120

Quarterly Meetings  300

Beaverdale Bus Open House 250

NFC Fair  250

December Quarterly Meeting

We have moved our November 7th Quarterly Meeting to Tuesday December 5th due to election day. We finalized the agenda. Don will send to board and guests.

Public Affairs Bylaws

We discussed and finalized the changes we wish to see to the bylaws for PA. These changes have been sent to the BNA Board for approval

What we are requesting (along with current):

  • Hosts quarterly and annual meetings
  • Leads neighborhood improvement efforts
    • Beaverdale Youth Groups
    • Coordinate/Host Beaverdale Parks or Trail Cleanup
    • Local School Supply Drive
  • Hosts candidate forums for political offices of interest to neighborhood residents (Outside of BNA Quarterly Meetings)
  • Coordinates Neighborhood Watch and public safety efforts
    • Work with DSM Police Dept NBSD (Neighborhood Based Service Delivery Unit)
  • Discharges other duties as directed by the Board

Current Bylaws

  • Hosts quarterly and annual meetings
  • Leads neighborhood improvement efforts
  • Hosts candidate forums for political offices of interest to neighborhood residents
  • Coordinates Neighborhood Watch and public safety efforts
  • Researches eligibility for local, state, and national awards
  • Researches eligibility for local, state, and national funding opportunities
  • Discharges other duties as directed by the Board

Better ways to promote BNA

The committee discussed using Instagram along with what we currently use (Facebook, email, BNA website) to promote events. This should help in reaching additional Beaverdale residents and residents interested in Beaverdale.

Next meeting is January 17th at 5:30 PM. Cooney’s Bar is slated for the meeting location.

For December we are having a gathering at Don Piper’s house versus a meeting. The date for that is Wednesday December 20th. Info to come on the December 20th gathering.
