Here's a chance for Beaverdale residents to hear from the two candidates running for the first ward seat on the Des Moines city council.
Candidates Rob Barron, a former member of the Des Moines School Board, and attorney CeCe Ibson, a former president of the Beaverdale Neighborhood Association, will speak to the third quarter meeting of the Beaverdale Neighborhood Association.
The meeting is open to all Beaverdale residents. It will be held Tuesday, August 12th at 7:00 pm at the Northwest Community Center, 5110 Franklin Avenue.
Barron and Ibson will list their priorities and take questions from the audience.
In addition to the council candidates, there will be a representative from the Des Moines Water Works to talk about nitrate levels and the recent restrictions on lawn watering. And the owner of Vinyl Cup records will talk about his relocation into the space formerly occupied by Back Country.
Residenets will also hear brief reports from the BNA board and committees about the important work going on this summer. There also will be a preview of the Beaverdale Fall Festival.
Snacks and refreshments will be served at 6:30, so come join your neighbors for some social time. The meeting will start at 7:00 pm.
