Beaverdale Revitalization Leaders

The Beaverdale revitalization team is led by a board of directors – representing neighbors and business owners – and four committee chairs. We’d like you to meet the dedicated volunteers who head up the four areas covered by the Main Street Four-Point Approach™.

Kevin Currie               Nicole Buss              Eric Sitzmann

Kevin Currie is the founder of Construction Advisory Group, a business that helps people manage their construction projects. With 21 years of experience in the construction business, Kevin provides dynamic leadership as Chair of the Design Committee, which is charged with making our revitalization plan a reality! The Design Committee works with plan and design consultants to sort out complex issues like parking, landscaping and the overall streetscape of our business district. The group will also work with individual business owners on façade improvements and coordinate with the BNA beautification committee.

Kevin is an ISU graduate with a degree in Construction Engineering. His wife Julie is an RN and they have two wonderful children. He is involved with youth issues and has been active in organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement, and Rebuilding Together. He believes strongly in creating excellent educational and quality of life conditions in Iowa, which will attract young adults back to Iowa to raise their families and expand their career opportunities. To learn more, or to get involved in the Design Committee, contact Kevin.

Nicole Buss is Corporate Marketing Coordinator at First American Bank in Beaverdale. Nicole is chair of the Promotions Committee, whose goals include enhancing the image of the Beaverdale business district, developing special events, and the development of an overall marketing strategy to ensure Beaverdale’s continued growth as a destination area. The committee will also develop holiday promotions and decorations, and coordinate a calendar of events for the area.

Nicole is a Drake grad with a BS in Business Administration. She oozes enthusiasm for both First American Bank and the Promotions Committee. She plays softball and volleyball and enjoys stamping and making cards. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. To find out more about how you can work with this energetic group, contact Nicole.

Eric Sitzmann is Branch Manager of First American Bank in Beaverdale, which gives him an ideal background to be Chair of the Business Improvement Committee. This committee is responsible to both develop strategies to help existing Beaverdale businesses expand and to recruit new businesses into the area. This group helps ensure our local businesses stay strong and vital. Eric attended UNI and then received his MBA at the University of Missouri. He hails from a large family – he is the youngest of twelve children and has 33 nieces and nephews! He is married to Kelly Parkinson and enjoys golf and fishing in his spare time. To participate in the work being done by the Business Improvement Committee, contact Eric.

A fourth committee – the Organization Committee – is currently without a chairperson. This important group does fund-raising, mobilizes volunteer efforts, supports public relations efforts, and works to update the neighborhood about what is going on with revitalization. If you would like additional information about the work done by this part of the revitalization team, contact Sheree Clark.
