Memorial Tree Grant Money

The Polk County Board of Supervisors awarded the Beaverdale Neighborhood Association a grant of which $1,000 was designated to establish a fund for the purpose of assisting residents with the costs of planting memorial trees.  The Beautification committee assists with this project and maintains records of trees planted in the neighborhood in honor of loved ones and friends.  Trees have been planted in the parks and median as part of a continuing effort to maintain the canopy of trees in Beaverdale.

Guidelines for Grant awards:

·        Trees must be planted within the neighborhood boundaries, on public land and in compliance with city recommendations and BNA Beautification Committee approval.

·        Applications for grant assistance may be made to the Beaverdale Neighborhood Association Beautification Committee, PO Box 30175, Des Moines, IA 50310

·        Monies raised by private individuals and/or groups will be matched dollar for dollar up to $125.00.

·        Individual and/or groups may apply for one grant per calendar year.

·        Applications for a grant must include:

Name of group or individual

Contact name, address and telephone.

An e-mail address if available would be desired.

Location and type of tree preferred.

Time of planting desired.

·        Allow at least three weeks for a decision on the grant money and permission to plant the tree.  A BNA representative will discuss the application with the contact person.  Alternate locations and/or types of trees may be suggested to comply with city guidelines and Mid-America Energy regulations.

·        This program is subject to the availability of funds.
