BNA Mission
The Beaverdale neighborhood Association is neighbors working together to promote the social welfare of the Beaverdale area by bringing about civic betterment and social improvements for the common good and general welfare of the community.

The BNA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization. Your company may have a matching funds program.

Dear friends and neighbors,

The rumors are fact: Beaverdale will soon welcome a new tenant to the “old Walgreens building,” as Carver Ace Hardware is set to open a store there this summer! Many of you know and appreciate the fine folks at Carver’s Hickman location (near the intersection with Merle Hay Road), and the company is intent on installing a staff at their new location that will provide the same level of service and neighborliness. As an added plus for our section of the city, Carver plans on keeping its Hickman location open. Of course, we’ve been assured the Beaverdale location will be second-to-none, utilizing more space to offer a “next tier” of products.

Be on the lookout for more information on Carver’s imminent arrival and be sure to stop in to welcome them during the store opening, scheduled for mid-June. And make sure you continue to support our other Beaverdale businesses, each of which plays an integral role in keeping our neighborhood strong!

Mayor Frank Cownie and the Des Moines City Council invite you to at a special Recognition Reception on Monday, April 10, at 3:30 p.m. followed by a presentation shortly before 4:30 p.m. for DM Hoover and DM Roosevelt honoring their 2006 State Basketball Championships and Sportsmanship Awards. The reception will be held at City Hall, located at 400 Robert D. Ray Drive on the 2nd floor main hall. The presentation will be in the council chambers. Congratulations to both teams. We are proud of you!

See you around the neighborhood,

Bill Miller
