BNA Mission
The Beaverdale neighborhood Association is neighbors working together to promote the social welfare of the Beaverdale area by bringing about civic betterment and social improvements for the common good and general welfare of the community.

The BNA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization. Your company may have a matching funds program.

Dear friends and neighbors,

Although I’m sure you’re just starting to recover from Grass Seats Cinema and SCRUB, it’s time to get ready for two more stupendous Beaverdale events:

Beaverdale Garden Walk
Need a flower fix? Come join us for the Beaverdale Neighborhood Garden Walk. Six gardeners in our neighborhood have offered to share their yards and gardens with all of you on Saturday, June 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You’ll have an opportunity to enjoy a charming English-style conservatory; a beautiful cottage garden with old-fashioned plants, picket fence and garden shed; a professionally landscaped lot that makes the most of its small size; a quiet courtyard perfect for a family gathering or contemplation of nature; a garden that instantly changed from shade to sun; and a yard that makes creative reuse of everyday objects from worms to bowling balls!

Tickets for the Garden Walk can be purchased for $5.00 from local Beaverdale merchants A Kinder Touch, Back Country Outfitters, Beaverdale Books, Boesen the Florist, and Grounds for Celebration now and through June 30. Addresses and descriptions of each garden will be provided with your ticket, along with a map of Beaverdale. You can begin the tour at Calvin Community (4210 Hickman—where tickets will also be sold the day of the tour and there is plenty of parking). From there, a shuttle provided by Calvin Community will make rounds to the other gardens during the hours of the tour. Or plan to walk and ride, several are a short walk from each other.

The fun doesn’t stop with the flowers. Each garden will have a unique display. There will be products for sale, art work, entertainment, refreshments, and even a chance to win a gift certificate! Show your ticket at Beaverdale Books for a special price on garden books. Take part in a scavenger hunt at A Kinder Touch and win a special prize.

The Beaverdale Garden Walk has been organized by volunteers from the BNA and Beaverdale Main Street Initiative.  Proceeds from the Garden Walk will benefit the neighborhood, including supporting beautification efforts. Contact Nancy Dunbar, chair of BNA’s Beautification Committee, at 255-2671 or nsdunbar@juno.com for more information.

Beaverdale Jazz in July
Beaverdale has been chosen to kick off the month-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of Metro Arts Jazz in July! The fun begins at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, when the Java Jews will hit the stage at Beaverdale Park (the intersection of 34th and Adams). The One Nite Stand will start at 6:00 p.m. That’s right: two great local bands on one beautiful evening! Grab your blankets and picnic baskets and make an evening out of it. Refreshments will also be available at the park if you don’t feel like bringing your own.

Beaverdale Jazz in July is presented by Metro Arts Alliance, the Beaverdale Main Street Initiative, the BNA, and presenting sponsor Carver Ace Hardware, with additional financial support from Calvin Community, Back Country Outfitters, Boesen the Florist, and Floors & More.

See you around the neighborhood,

Bill
President, BNA
